Badge clubs are structured youth programs designed for character development and strengthening of the relationship between parent and child. While different clubs may have different areas of focus (for example: evangelism, civic responsibility, nature appreciation, etc) all share the common aspects of regular meetings, focused activities, passage ceremonies, and collected symbols of advancement, ie. badges.
While these can never substitute for the organic mentoring relationship the Bible calls us to have with our children as their earthly fathers, these can definitely supplement what we are already doing by giving us a structured environment, a sense of community, and a systematic approach to advancement….not to mention standardized symbols
